Hotel Kittilä opens a new era and a heartbeat in the heart of the village Kittilä
– Today, August 1, 2025, Hotel Kittilä will be transferred to the ownership of ALBD Lapland Oy, a significant step that will create a new story in the center of the village of Kittilä.
"We have a dream: to create Kittilä as an even stronger tourist destination and at its heart a modern, warm and hospitable hotel that belongs to everyone," says Jukka Markkanen, CEO of ALBD Lapland Oy and now also the new director of Hotel Kittilä. "Our goal is to make Hotel Kittilä a point of pride for locals.

Encounters decide everything
We have already launched a new project that will progress in stages, without interruptions to customer service. The first big step is the opening of a new café bar and lunch restaurant, which will be the living room of the village. Uncomplicated, open and lively.
This is a place where families, friends and communities gather for morning coffee, meet for lunch and celebrate. A cozy environment, local food, fair prices, and a warm atmosphere, everything is designed to make everyone feel welcome.
Local management, local understanding
Jukka Markkanen, who has lived and worked in Kittilä for over twenty years, will start as the new hotel manager. His background as the head coach and coordinator of Levi Snow Sport Academy brings with him strong expertise and experience in growing tourism and service.
"I have lived here with my heart. Nothing I have done has been just work, everything has inspired me with responsibility and respect for people. I want to build something that the entire village can be proud of," Markkanen emphasizes. "Together with local entrepreneurs, authorities and communities, Hotel Kittilä will become a place that combines the best aspects of tourism and the everyday lives of the villagers."
Continuity and reliability behind us
Current operations will continue without interruption. Breakfast is served every day, even on weekends, and the hotel will serve its guests as before, now with new energy and a future direction.
